Job Summary
Oversees the College's print publications, advertising, public relations, and web presence. Develops and implements strategies to grow awareness and positive perceptions of the College, and supports efforts to increase fundraising as well as student enrollment and retention. Reports to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise communications support staff of four part-time employees (2 graphic designers, 1 web developer, and 1 office assistant).
2. Oversee all public college publications, including printed marketing and recruitment collateral, promotional signage, and annual alumni magazine.
3. Provide quality control and assistance as needed for internal publications.
4. Ensure consistent internal and external usage of the Louisburg College brand identity.
5. Oversee future development of a new College website built according to current best practices.
6. Write dynamic and static content for website as needed.
7. Oversee redesign and content development for, the stand-alone website for the College's performing arts venue.
8. Manage the College's primary social media channels; develop an actionable strategy for increasing audience engagement; and provide quality control for additional College-associated social media channels.
9. Manage budget for and implementation of all local, regional, and national advertising initiatives (both for College events and for general image-building purposes).
10. Manage email marketing program (including the development of a monthly newsletter), and assist with internal e-blasts as needed.
11. Manage graphic design projects commissioned internally by faculty and staff members.
12. Develop fruitful relationships with news media representatives in Franklin and Wake Counties as well as with statewide publications; act as College spokesperson and media liaison during campus crises and special events.
13. Utilize email marketing program to regularly communicate positive news about the College with the media.
14. Serve as staff photographer at a variety of College events.
15. Support the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Director of Annual Giving & Alumni Relations in marketing needs related to fundraising.
16. Support other Institutional Advancement team members in marketing activities as needed.
17. Support the Vice President for Enrollment in the development of recruitment materials (produced with an outside agency every other year).
18. Council members of the president's executive cabinet in communications- and marketing-related issues, both on day-to-day and strategic levels.
19. Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Excellent writing and editing skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, and ethics of public relations.
• Thorough understanding of contemporary design aesthetics and best practices, particularly related to print publications and web development/design.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences (including but not limited to: alumni of all ages, media personnel, students, families, faculty, and administrative staff).
• Ability to oversee, prioritize, and participate in multiple projects simultaneously.
• Confidence in meeting a high volume of overlapping deadlines throughout the school year.
• Ability to supervise assigned staff (2 part-time graphic designers, 1 part-time web developer, 1 part-time office assistant).
• Demonstrated proficiency in digital photography and photo editing.
• Capacity to adapt to and embrace previously unfamiliar technological systems related to project management, media relations, and other job functions.
• Proficiency in using Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, Facebook, Twitter, and email marketing systems (ex. Constant Contact).
• Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, MS Excel, Google Drive, and additional social media channels (ex. Instagram and LinkedIn).
• Ability to lift objects up to 10 pounds and to perform job-related duties involving walking, bending, kneeling, etc.
• Availability to occasionally work evenings and weekends, depending on deadline requirements and special events.
• Demonstrated experience in overseeing strategic website development.

Three to five years of experience in public relations, journalism, advertising, marketing or a directly related field is required. Higher education and supervisory experience is preferred.

A bachelor's degree in public relations, journalism, advertising, marketing or a directly related field is required.
