Ky. – Almost five months after ground was broken on the new wrestling
facility, the construction is nearing an end. One of the final steps in
completing the state-of-the-arc facility is a prayer walk that will be
taking place to kickoff Homecoming week on Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m.
University is continuing the tradition that has been in place for all
new buildings. The prayer walk is open to the community, alumni,
administration, students, athletes, coaches, faculty and staff. Everyone
in attendance will have the opportunity to write scripture verses on
the walls before the wrestling mats are installed.
"We have been
blessed with a beautiful new facility for our wrestling teams to use and
we feel that allowing the campus to speak a blessing over the building
and our wrestling teams is very important,” said director of athletics
“We want the use of this facility to glorify God so that those who enter the facility will experience Christ."
the facility is 100 percent complete and ready for the wrestling teams
to move in, a ribbon cutting and dedication of the building will take
place. That date will be announced later in October. Students will lead
the ceremony. Drew O’Neal is leading the music portion, Meg Brown,
Leighton Lavey and Matt Milton will also be reading scripture.
wrestling coach Franky James will also represent both the men's and
women's teams as the Lady Tigers will be competing in the Patriot Open
in Williamsburg, Ky.
“We are asking for God’s blessings on all
who will use this facility and any and all events/activities that are
held in this beautiful new facility,” said assistant director of
athletics Jim Hardy.
Those in attendance for the prayer walk will be president Dr. Michael Carter and other vice presidents and administration.
