Students heard from a variety of leaders such as U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), U.S. Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Nicole Fulgham, public school advocate and faith-motivated justice seeker. The Christian Leadership Conference is an annual conference where college students come to learn and consider how to engage public policy. The students who attend engage in top public policy issues, hear from senators and representative and express their own values in a civil and biblical way and speak on behalf of those who have no voice.

Speakers gave their testimony of how they got involved in politics and following God’s call. Nosich said John McCain was his favorite speaker even though he didn’t agree with everything he said in his speech.

“Hearing Lankford’s testimony was very inspiring because he never thought he would be a politician but felt God’s call and followed it,” Nosich said.

The theme for the Christian Leadership conference this year was Lift Your Voice and that is exactly what Nosich learned to do.

After listening to Fulgham speak on the education policy in Indianapolis, Nosich spoke up and asked her about the rural education reform policy and how to allocate the funds for a rural school system.

“Washington isn’t as bad as people say it is,” Nosich said. “Many leaders we heard from have a heart of passion to fight injustice. The conference gave me a confidence to ask questions I wouldn’t have normally asked and it informed me about issues I didn’t know existed,” Nosich said.

“I also made a few friends from other schools such as Asbury University, Olivet Nazarene University, Bethel and Lancaster Bible College. It a great networking opportunity and I hope I am able to attend the conference again next year,” Nosich said.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering over 80 programs of study including 24 master’s degrees, seven postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs.
