Dr. Reese Land to have trumpet recital

Associate Professor of Trumpet Dr. Reese Land will be presenting Modeste Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in the Ransdell Chapel on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 8 p.m. He will be assisted by pianist Dr. William Budai, organist Dr. Wesley Roberts, and narrator Dr. Mark Bradley. This spectacular and accessible work is presented here in lieu of the full symphony orchestra with a plethora of different trumpets, the magnificent Bechstein concert grand piano, and the diverse sonorities of the over 3,000 pipe Farrand and Votey organ. This hour-long program is free to all and is available for convocation credit.

Voter Rally is Sept. 10

SGA will be hosting its first Voter Rally this Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event will be held in the courtyard between the BASC and the SAC. At this event, students will hear from our County Clerk, Mr. Mark Carney, about the importance of voting and about a few close and interesting elections in the history of Taylor County. After the event, students can then register to vote, or receive help with any other voter registration problems they need, from the SGA. The speaking will end around 3 p.m., and the voter registration will last from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. This week is SGA WEEK!

Homecoming candidate deadline is Sept. 13

Those clubs wishing to have a Homecoming candidate for this year's Homecoming Queen Competition, must submit the name of their candidate to or, by Sept. 13. Please include the candidate's name, classification, major, email, and phone number. We will then follow up with the candidates regarding informational meetings. Homecoming elections will be held Sept 23-27 in the Winters Dining Hall during lunch hours.

Please remember, clubs or organizations wishing to have a candidate MUST also have a float in the Homecoming parade. Clubs who participate in building a float will be provided $100 for float expenses. Clubs or organizations not wishing to submit a float can have a table set up on Stapp Lawn for the other festivities if they wish. Clubs/organizations can have both a float and a table if they wish. We will also need to know the clubs/organizations wishing to have a table by Sept. 13.
