Dig Pink with volleyball team
The Campbellsville University volleyball team is hosting "Dig Pink" on Thursday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. when St. Catharine College comes to the Powell Athletic Center. The night will be dedicated to raising money for the Side-Out Foundation — an organization that unites volleyball players and coaches for the common goal of furthering breast cancer awareness, education and patient services. The team’s goal is to raise $2,000. Fans will have the opportunity to support the organization in various ways. Admission to the match will be $5, with all proceeds going straight to Side-Out. CU students will be allowed into the game at no cost. Concessions and baked goods will be sold, as well as an $8 chili dinner following the match in the Maroon Room in Hawkins. All fans are also encouraged to participate in the in-game raffles that will include items from local restaurants, jewelry, volleyball apparel, and much more. During halftime of the Oct. 1 match, there will be a "Pie in the Face." Essentially, jars will be set up for about a week in the cafeteria and the person with the most money donated in their jar will get their face ‘pied.” The team will be displaying pink ribbons during the match and if anyone would like to have a loved one remembered. Ribbons can be purchased for $1. Donations can be made directly to Campbellsville University's Side-Out page online at http://www.side-out.org/application/ous/fundraising_page/46906.
