School of Education Jumpstart Read for the Record
The School of Education’s annualJumpstart Read for the Recordevent is just around the corner. Please mark the dateThursday, Sept. 27on your calendar and plan to bring your3-8 year-oldchildren/grandchildren to participate in this year’s Jumpstart program. The event will be held in theBeulah Campbell Collection Room in the SOE.
The book Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squadby Jacky Davis and David Soman will be read to the children followed by fun activities. Each family will get a book and additional activities to take home.
There will be three sessions at 3:30, 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. Space is limited so please reserve a spot for your child by contacting Tammy Snyder at 789-5366 by Friday, Sept. 21.

Golf Scramble Oct. 12
The 2012 Post 15 Trooper Island Golf Scramble will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at Rosewood Country Club in Marion County.The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM EDT with a shotgun start with registration beginning at 8:00 EDT.Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2ndand 3rdplace teams and to the winner for Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive.The cost is $240.00 per team consisting of 4 players (A, B, C, D).The price includes green fees, cart and lunch.
All money raised will be given to Trooper Island, Inc.Trooper Island is a free summer camp for disadvantaged children ages 10-12 funded solely by donations and fundraisers.Over 700 children attend annually.
