Homecoming information and deadlines
Homecoming is just around the corner! We are excited about the festivities this year and hope that you are able to participate in some fashion. There are several ways that organizations can play a part this year. Details on homecoming candidates, parade floats and the club festival are below. Please take time to read the information provided.
The deadline for submitting a candidate for the Homecoming Queen Competition is September 30, 2016. Clubs or organizations wishing to have a candidate MUST also submit a float for the Homecoming parade. Homecoming Elections will be held Oct. 3-5th in the Winter's Dining Hall during lunch hours.
This year the club festival will take on a facelift. Instead of individual clubs setting up individual booths, the SGA will be collecting information, details, and highlights about clubs and organizations on campus to display in what will be called the SGA Club Highlight. Our goal in this is to free up sponsors and students on an already busy day yet still present alumni and students with material, information and a glimpse at what organizations are doing on campus. For those who are interested in signing up for a time to be at the SGA Club Highlight and talk with visitors personally you can do so on the form titled SGA Club Highlight. Please provide information concerning your organization that you would like displayed on the SGA Club Highlight Form as well. This form can be located on TigerNet under CU Life and the Homecoming tab. Campbellsville University graduates who are also published authors are invited to be a part of the Homecoming Festival as well.
A. The Homecoming theme this year is "Best of the Bluegrass.” Any organization building a float is encouraged to incorporate this theme, but it is not mandatory. However, the floats that use the theme will have an advantage in the judging process. Float guidelines can be found in the Float Guidelines under the Homecoming tab at CU Life on TigerNet. Please read these guidelines carefully.
B. Cash prizes will be given as follows:
1st place-$300, 2nd place-$200, 3rd place-$100
C. $100 dollars will be given toward the production of up to 8 floats.
D. The Taylor County Fairgrounds will be provided for an area to build floats starting Monday, Oct. 10th through Saturday, Oct. 15th @ 10:00 am. This area is open from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. To reserve space at the fairgrounds and/or you need assistance in securing a wagon please notify Trent Creason at firstname.lastname@example.org.
