Are you interested in songwriting or singing as a profession? Would you just like to sit and listen to how one of country music’s most famous stars made it big in Nashville?

School of Music Dean Tony Cunha’s office has free tickets to a Master Songwriter’s Workshop featuring Grammy winner Larry Gatlin on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in Ransdell Chapel.

Gatlin will also be making an appearance at Krystal Music at 2:45 p.m. on the same day.

He is a Grammy winner and was the Academy of Country Music’s (ACM) top male vocalist in 1979. Gatlin and his brothers were awarded ACM’s coveted Pioneer Award in 2001. He has been a member of the world famous Grand Ole Opry for almost 40 years.

The Workshop is for aspiring singers, songwriters, musicians, and anyone who loves gospel or country music.

This unique workshop, held in an intimate setting, will teach you the process of songwriting, as well as how to market yourself, how to market your songs, and how to find and work with an agent.

Find out firsthand how Gatlin started in the business as a kid and ended up beating Roy Orbison in a talent show. He went on to write songs for many performers including Elvis.

It will be a night to remember!
