For Immediate Release

CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY- Campbellsville University’s School of Education and the Spencer County School District have entered into a collaborative agreement to support new teachers hired in Spencer County schools.

“This collaboration is a continuing effort to provide teachers with the leadership skills to improve student achievement as well as to retain new teachers in the district,” said Dr. Beverly Ennis, dean of Campbellsville University’s School of Education.

Campbellsville University has provided Teacher Leader Master of Arts in Education (TLMAE) curriculum materials and instructional expertise. The TLMAE program gives teachers the opportunity to learn advanced education concepts as well as the skills needed to take more responsibility within the school setting. New teachers can attend eight sessions over the course of the school year to discuss leadership, conduct data analysis and improve instructional practice.

As an incentive to successfully complete the program, Spencer County is providing teachers with a tuition supplement for their first master’s class at Campbellsville University, while the university is providing a reduced tuition rate. With the Spencer County supplement and the Campbellsville University reduced tuition rate, the cost for each teacher to receive three hours of credit is only $250.

Spencer County Superintendent Chuck Adams signed the Memorandum of Agreement for this collaborative leadership program. The program was approved by the Spencer County Board of Education in August 2015.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering over 80 programs of study including 24 master’s degrees, seven postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs.
