Assistant Director, Academic Readiness (full-time position) at EKU is available
Assistant Director, Academic Readiness oversees student success initiatives for students who enter EKU with developmental education needs and/or who are deemed not college ready according to university admission standards. The Assistant Director, Academic Readiness & Testing assists the Director of AR&T as needed with the supervision, coordination and administration of academic readiness, student success, developmental education, and academic testing initiatives. The Assistant Director acts as an institutional contact for transition programs and coordinates retention-based programs and services that support the transition of at-risk students to the university. Responsible for oversight of the summer and fall high school-to-college bridge programs and the coordination of campus-wide tutoring initiatives and tutor training. Serves as an academic mentor to students admitted in the special admissions category of admissions or otherwise at high risk in terms of retention. Assists the Director with office and staff management, as necessary. Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop programming and curricula for student success initiatives. The Assistant Director is expected to work some evenings and weekends throughout the academic year. This is a high profile position that requires the ability to work well with a wide variety of students, faculty, staff and campus partners.
The Assistant Director will also:
-- Serve the university, regional partners, high schools, adult education, students, and parents by responding to information requests
-- Maintain websites related to Academic Readiness, Developmental Education, and the Eastern Bridge program
-- Act in response to requests from University students, faculty and administration for statistical information regarding transition programs housed in Academic Readiness
-- Evaluate and assess programming, programs and services for continuous improvement & relevancy
-- Work with other university departments and programs to provide assistance with EKU orientation programs, classroom/workshop presentations, and community organizations (as requested)
-- Complete certification for exams given by Academic Testing and be competent in proctoring a variety of assessments, if called upon to do so
-- Supervise a graduate assistant and provide coaching for professional development
-- Provide professional development and certification opportunities to tutors
-- Be expected to exhibit strong written and oral communication skills
-- Apply critical and creative thinking to program development and workplace management
-- Complete other duties as assigned

Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
Minimum Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Master's degree is preferred.
Minimum Experience Qualifications:
Three years of related work experience is required, to include supervisory experience, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
Education can substitute for experience but experience cannot substitute for education.
-Background in education or academic program development is a plus.
-Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
