 SUMMARY

The Coordinator of First-Year programs will facilitate new student orientation programs to help students transition to campus. This individual will also work collaboratively with other departments to implement programs that support student wellness. The Coordinator will have significant responsibilities working with the Graves Center for Calling and Career making efforts to connect students to these services early to support career readiness.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coordinate programs and services to aid new students in transitioning to college
  • Administer MBTI personality/career based assessments
  • Work with Freshman Seminar class sections on career readiness
  • Manage College to Career Commitment program
  • Assist with Calling and Career programming
  • Facilitate wellness education programming (alcohol & substance abuse, bystander intervention, etc.)
  • Coordinate Parent/Family Weekend
  • Manage Family Association
  • Coordinate new student orientation programming
    • PAWS (summer registration workshops)
    • Fall and Spring Orientation
    • Assist with Weeks of Welcome

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES-- None

  • Education and / or Experience –Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training. Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related area and two years of post-bachelors experience in a college setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct student activities. Individual must possess a passion for students and their development. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with individuals and groups of varying backgrounds, interests and goals.
  • Communication skills, Excellent interpersonal skills, mathematical, and reasoning abilities required along with general computer literacy.

 SUMMARY

The Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion is responsible for creating a nurturing campus environment for minority groups on campus. This individual will facilitate programming that caters to student interests and also programming that educates the campus community about minority populations. The Coordinator for Diversity and Inclusion will also assist unique student populations in transitioning to campus. This is a live-on campus position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Create student programming opportunities focusing on diversity education, minority groups, unique student populations, etc.
  • Advise related student groups
  • Attend to international student needs in creating a campus home and acclimating to culture
  • Communicate with parents and stakeholders
  • Participate in on-call duty rotation for campus
    • Walk through the buildings at least once while on call
    • Be on campus by 10:00 p.m. (when on duty)
    • Carry a cell phone while on-call, typically 1 week a month
  • Attend weekly Student Life meetings

SUMMARY

The Director of Campus Life should seek to nurture the holistic development of students within the campus community. This person will be responsible for overseeing the Residence Life program and directly supervising the two Area Coordinators, along with student staff. Furthermore, the Director will be responsible for crisis response within the residence halls. Outside of Residence Life, the Director will oversee the Fraternity & Sorority Life program. This is a live-on campus position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Fraternity & Sorority Life

  • Serve as advisor to Interfraternity Council
  • Serve as advisor to Panhellenic Council
  • Assist students in the planning & implementation of fraternity & sorority recruitment
  • Assist with the needs of all fraternities and sororities
  • Coordinate NPHC meetings and discussions
  • Lead monthly Chapter Presidents’ and Advisors’ meetings
  • Meet with Chapter Consultants as needed
  • Develop & maintain programming to benefit Fraternity & Sorority Life

Residence Life

  • Provide oversight, support and direction to Residence Life Program
  • Manage recruitment, supervision and support of Residence Life Staff (professional and student)
  • Handle crisis situations
  • Communicate with Facilities Management and Campus Safety regarding problems in residence halls
  • Provide oversight and management of the housing program
  • Serve as a Student Accountability Hearing Officer as needed

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises two professional live-in Area Coordinators and about 50 student staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Education and / or Experience -- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Master’s Degree in Student Personnel or related area and two years of post-bachelors experience in a college setting preferred. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct student activities. Individual must possess a passion for students and their development. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with individuals and groups of varying backgrounds, interests and goals.
