CAMPBELLSVILLE, KY. – Dr. George Bullard, the general secretary of the North American Baptist Fellowship of the Baptist World Alliance, called the students and faculty of Campbellsville University to be non-conformists and achieve higher ground while speaking at Ransdell Chapel on Sept. 16.

“As a higher ground non-conformist, we set goals for ourselves that we haven’t thought of yet,” Bullard said, and quoted 2 Corinthians 5:7, “We live by faith, not by sight.”

“How would this change your life as a college student?” Bullard said, challenging the students of CU.

He stressed the fact that in Christ we are to seek higher ground, not common ground.

Higher ground is about allowing God, who is the only way to achieve higher ground, to call us into the life he has planned with us, Bullard said. He used examples from the life of Bob Buford, the co-founder of the Leadership Network, a man who was very successful but gave his life to God.

“The biggest challenge that Baptists have is conforming to other denominations and being better than each other. The biggest task is making churches realize what we could do together on higher ground. I urge you to become higher ground non-conformists through God,” Bullard said.

Tim French of Louisville, Ky., and Kathryn Weeks of Louisville, Ky., both freshmen at CU, delivered special music during Campbellsville University’s chapel. Dr. Twyla Hernandez, assistant professor of Christian Missions, introduced Bullard.

Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with more than 3,500 students offering 63 undergraduate options, 17 master’s degrees, five postgraduate areas and eight pre-professional programs. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
