Campbellsville University to present ‘Gloria’ by Concert Chorus Nov. 28

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The Campbellsville University School of Music will present a performance of Vivaldi’s “Gloria” by the Concert Chorus on Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel located at 401 N. Hoskins Ave., Campbellsville, Ky.

Dr. David Hedrick, assistant professor of music at Campbellsville University, directs the chorus, but this performance will be under the direction of special guest conductor Dr. Robert Gaddis, dean of the School of Music and conductor of the University Orchestra.

Soloists for the performance of “Gloria” will be soprano Heather Heim of Big Clifty, Ky., and duet by sopranos Fern Thompson of Madisonville, Ky. andAmelia Herrin of Elizabethtown, Ky.

Other soloists include alto soloist Rebecca Oliver of Scottsville, Ky., and mezzo soprano soloist Margareth Miguel of Sao Paulo, Brazil. Assisting the chorus will be the University Orchestra prepared by faculty member Wansoo Cho.

Performing solos from Handel’s “Messiah” will be tenor soloist Jian Jia Wang, Beijing, China. Wang will be performing “Comfort Ye, My People” and “Every Valley Shall Be Exalted.” Mezzo soprano soloist Margareth Miguel will also perform the aria “O Thou That Tellest Good Tidings” for contralto and chorus.
The chorus will conclude the program with the “Hallelujah! Chorus.”

The program is free and open to the public.
