CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – Dr. David S. Doran, organist and professor emeritus of music at Jefferson Community College, Louisville, will perform at the Noon Organ Recital Series Tuesday, Nov. 9, at 12:20 p.m. in the Ransdell Chapel, located at 401 North Hoskins, Ave., Campbellsville.
Doran will perform the “Agincourt Hymn” in a setting by John Dunstable, a piece written to honor the victory of Henry V over the French at Agincourt on St. Crispian’s Day, October 25, 1415, the “Prélude, Fugue and Variation” by César Franck and the Organ Concerto No. 2 by J. S. Bach.
The concert will last 30 minutes. It is open to the public.
Doran trained at the University of Louisville and the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Apart from an educator, Doran also composed a set of 24 Little Preludes and Fugues in 2006 for the piano designed for teaching purposes.
His specialty of music is the interpretation of Baroque music, a style of European classical music approximately extending from 1600 to 1750, utilizing the organ and harpsichord.
He is past president of the Kentucky Music Teachers Association, was the association’s 1987 Commissioned Composer and the 2004 distinguished Service Award recipient.
