At a recent Juried Student Art Show, Campbellsville University students won several awards for their artistic talent.
Tess Turner, a senior from Franklin, Ky., won best of show for her piece titled, “We Have Lived.” The juror Delaire Rowe of Bowling Green, Ky. said the piece was a “timeless face,” and “a statement on humanity.”
Turner also won first place and honorable mention in the photography division.
Second and third place in photography both went to Sarah Hubbard, a senior from Fairfield, Ohio.
Laura Slack, a senior from Benton, Ky., won first place in ceramics for her piece titled “Jade and Amber Cups.”
Others who placed in ceramics include Bonnie Joy Boulware, a junior from Campbellsville, Ky., who placed second; and Hannah Baird, a sophomore from Hartford, Ky., who placed third and received honorable mention.
First place drawing award went to Yuko Nagasue, a sophomore from Japan, who also won third place for another drawing entry. Others who placed in the drawing division include Charleen Brinson, a senior from Lebanon, Ky., second place; and Sarah Rose, a senior from Campbellsville, honorable mention.
First place in the painting division went to Brinson, who also received third for another entry. Other students who placed in the painting division include Natalie Olp, a sophomore from Hopkinsville, Ky., second; and Sarah Rowland, a senior from Wickliffe, Ky., honorable mention.
First place in the sculpture division went to Erin Grimsley, a sophomore from Elizabethtown, Ky. Other students who placed include: Slack, second; Autumn Martin, a junior from Campbellsville, Ky., third; and Rowland, honorable mention.
Rowe made several comments on the artwork, but also said “there were many fine qualities in other pieces as well.”
Campbellsville University is a widely acclaimed Kentucky-based Christian university with over 3,000 students offering 44 undergraduate programs, 16 master’s degrees and four postgraduate areas. The website for complete information is campbellsville.edu.
